ChairmanÕs Report

What better way to celebrate the arrival of Spring than with a rebirth of your enthusiasm for teaching mathematics. Though we canÕt guarantee Springlike weather, we can assure you of a pedagogical renaissance when you participate in NEMATYCÕs 30th Annual Meeting to be held at Mount Wachusett Community College , Gardner, MA  April 2 Š 3 , 2004.  With two dozen sessions to choose from, youÕre sure to find several to pique your interest. This yearÕs topics include web-based computer presentations, graphing calculator techniques and exercises, classroom strategies, connections to the world of work, statistics, Mathematica, and connections to the art world. There will also be a session devoted to adjuncts helping adjuncts. In addition to the sessions, we have built in some time for networking and visiting with the textbook representatives. A special ŅdessertÓ at lunch on Saturday will be a brief honoring of NEMATYCÕs founding father, Herb Gross. And, of course, donÕt forget the Annual Meeting and door prizes at the end of the day.

Plan to join us for sessions and social niceties on Friday afternoon and evening. All of the Friday activities will take place at the easily accessible Wachusett Village Inn (right off Route 2): two sets of afternoon presentations, followed by social hour, then a delicious meal. The after dinner speakers, Tom and Brenda Malloy, take us back in time via a slide presentation to late 18th and early 19th century MassachusettsÕ gravestones (ah! those were the days my friend). Rooms are available at the Inn at a surprisingly reasonable rate.

Bright (goes without saying) and early Saturday morning, weÕll caravan the few miles to Mount WachusettÕs campus for breakfast followed by energetic presentations, lunch, more dynamic sessions, and the Annual Meeting to send you on your way refreshed, reinvigorated, and ready to tackle the last month or so of the semester.

DonÕt delay. Register now. See you in the Spring.
